Adult Leadership & Troop Committee

KEY ADULT CONTACTS

Troop Committee Meetings are generally held on the 3rd Tuesday of every other month at the Millbury Federated Church and are announced in advance. See current Troop Calendar for specific months/dates. Parents who have not registered on the Committee are welcome and encouraged to attend Committee Meetings but only registered members of the Committee and Troop Leaders may vote.

Troop 109 Committee Purpose

The Committee exists to support Troop 109, it's youth and adult leaders, in providing for each year's program.  It is the committee's responsibility to hear & respond to the concerns of the Scoutmaster (on behalf of the Troop and the Adult Leaders) and to the sub-committees that make up the Committee, such as Fundraising, Equipment, etc.

How does the committee know what it should be doing?

Troop 109 is a boy run troop, meaning that the youth members design and implement their own

program from troop meetings to camping trips to high adventure treks. At Green Bar meetings the   Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) meets with other older, experienced scouts to discuss troop happenings. Once the SPL has a good idea of how he wants to proceed with the troop, he will approach the Scoutmaster and together they will plan the best way to meet the needs of the troop.

When the Scoutmaster requires additional help he will approach the committee. This extra help may be      that drivers are needed to get the troop to a camping trip, or perhaps additional chaperones are needed at a troop fundraiser. From time to time committee members with special skills are called upon to perform specific tasks. For instance the boys may wish to earn a merit badge that a particular committee member may have expertise in or the troop may need something built that would require an experienced craftsman.

Troop 109's Committee is an extremely important part of the troop. Without help and support from the committee, the boys in the troop would not have a program packed with exciting trips, interesting demonstrations and unforgettable adventures.

Please contact Committee Chairman Kristopher Harackiewicz if you're interested in becoming a member     of Troop 109's Committee.

Troop Adult Leadership

Successful troops have active adult participation by dedicated leaders and parents. Troop 109 is fortunate to have an deep roster of experienced leaders and parents who are willing to participate. Many of the leaders are Eagle Scouts themselves and several are also products of the Troop 109 scouting program.

The active involvement of these knowledgeable leaders is vital to the overall quality and success of the program. To maintain the standard of excellence set in the past years, we encourage new parents to get involved.

Parents can play an active part in the troop by working in a support role or just by lending a hand from time to time.  We can always use the help! Don’t wait to be asked, please approach one of the Adult Leadership to see where your support may be needed to ensure the scouts experience the best scouting has to offer.
