About Troop 109

As a member of Troop 109, a scout has the opportunity to develop character, citizenship, physical and mental fitness through various means, such as: outdoor adventures, community service projects, leadership responsibilities, and the rank/merit badge advancement program.

Since 1922, Troop 109 has continuously been built upon the high ideals of:

- Leadership - Tradition - Outdoor Skills - Community Service -

Troop 109 & High Adventure

The Troop 109 program provides a special focus on the High Adventure scouting experiences. Scouting should be an Adventure for all Scouts. Once a Scout has experienced the traditional year-round Troop 109 scouting program, and learned the basic Scout skills (generally reflected by earning the First Class rank), he should have more challenging Adventure opportunities: High Adventure.

High Adventure goes well beyond the normal Scouting program. It lets experienced Scouts do and see things many adults have never even done. It provides real physical and mental challenges that help develop maturity and leadership. It's a new kind of fun—fun and confidence that comes from knowing you've met real challenges and grown from them.

Why does Troop 109 make the effort to offer High Adventure experiences on a regular basis?

  • because it develops maturity, leadership, self-confidence, initiative, & teamwork
  • because it helps develop current and future boy leaders
  • because it's key to keeping boys in the troop years longer than the national average, often right up to age 18
